It was sitting on a ledge where I also keep my wireless headphones with tiled floors all through the house. Not a good combo. I almost dropped it a few times before due to wires getting crossed up etc. The thing that did it was me forgetting it was plugged in and grabbing it from the opposite side I usually get it from. It smashed on the floor screwing up the e-ink to where it was pretty much unreadable. This all happened awhile ago, but I called it in on Monday. 189 dollars later and my brand new Kindle arrived on Tuesday. Setting it up and pulling down my books, magazines and newspapers again was a breeze. Still it was an expensive lesson to learn. Moral of the story is keep your Kindles in a better spot than I did!

I’ve been doing alot more reading on my Kindle than I have in the past which I like. The main thing i’ve discovered is that reading more than one book on it is great. I have several books that i’m reading plus the local paper here in Austin. Since my mom was a librarian she was definitely happy that I was back into reading in a big way. She’s still a big reader and will sometimes finish a book in a day still, reading all night on the weekends. Crazy!

My buddy Tony from El Paso has been in town for the last few days. We played some Rock Band and hung out for the last few days while he was doing some work in town. Last night we went and hung out and I drunk way to many seven and sevens but otherwise had a great time. We’re planning to try and hit some games up in Denver this year, hopefully Paul will be starting!

I got my Kindle today. It was sitting on the porch waiting for me to drive up and take it into the safety of it’s new home.

First thoughts that ran through my mind after opening the box was “Man, this is really nice packaging” because they packaged it to look like a book. Upon opening the “book” and looking at the contents inside I quickly went to work removing the Kindle itself. First thoughts I had once I had it in my hands was “Woah this is really freaking small” and yea, don’t go there. I’m still talking about the Kindle.

Anyway, I was immediately happy with my purchase within the first 5 minutes of unveiling. I hadn’t even plugged the damn thing in and I was grinning ear to ear. Contrary to some popular opinion (this means you Andrea) it looks very stylish up close and personal. It has some really cool features and even includes a screensaver that flashes different drawings while it waits for you to come back and read it.

I’ll let you know how its going later so for now check out my new Kindle as I unbox it!
