I’ve added a new page at the top that utilizes my collection of movies and tv shows previously stored only on my hard drive. I had been searching for awhile trying to find a wordpress plugin that worked with my movie collector software with no luck. Collectorz finally ended up making collections available online recently which is nice. It would be better if I could make it match the rest of my site but beggars can’t be choosers. Regardless, I still have a bunch of dvd’s to catalog and I purchased a new portable scanner that came in on thursday. I didn’t think it would be so compact! I’ll try it out this week to see how well it works.

I have a crack in my foundation. I thought the cracks in my tile were due to the house settling. It settled alright. But that isn’t half of the crap i’ve gone though this summer.

Water softener leaks resin into the house causing my sinks to refuse to put out water. One new kitchen faucet (and a garbage disposal that need replacing anyway), replacment tank, and cleanup of said plumbing later i’m back in business

Car dies at Walgreens and won’t take a jump. One rental and battery (200+ alone for a huge dry cell in the trunk) and i’m all good.

AC unit goes out over this past weekend. Two days, 3 calls to 3 different repair places and one vacation day later (nice vacation huh?) it’s fixed Monday evening.

Throw in an expensive TV repair and some other minor issues (video card croaking, etc) and you can start to see why it’s been a great summer so far (not). At least I have a better way to pay for the tile damage now.

Monday will be a memorable day not only for all the well wishes on facebook but also for a minor (at the time major) scare we had with my mom. My mom came up to celebrate my BD at a birthday breakfast with my sister. During her preperation she inadvertantly took a knock on the back of her head before she left home. It was evident that something wasn’t quite right (slow speech, etc) and she suffered through a headache throughout the morning as well as being groggy. We’d hoped that it would have cleared up later in the day, but as the day went on she didn’t seem to be any better. Around 9:30 pm we convinced her that she should be checked out by a doctor. For one I was worried that she could have something more serious going on up to the possibility of going to sleep and not waking up. My sister and I met her at the hospital where she was given a catscan and it was determined that there was no internal bleeding and probably a mild concussion. She was told to stay home for the next 24-48 hours and be monitored throughout the day. I was just happy that it wasn’t anything major and that she was alright. So, definitely a memorable Monday in a few ways. Again, thank you for the well wishes throughout..

Wow.

The first call I made was to my mom. A mixture of excitement and some tears came through the phone from her after the speech Obama gave was over. “Did you ever think this could happen?” I asked. “Not in my lifetime” she replied.

Not in my lifetime. I haven’t lived the life she or my father has but I had heard some stories about my dad going to a segregated school and my mom going to a non-segregated school a few years later in the town where I grew up. I can only imagine how tough life was during those times, how options were limited and how something like last nights election could move people like my mother to tears. I can only imagine the emotions my grandmother experienced watching the election and I wished that I could have been there in the moment with them both.

I look forward to talking to my parents and my grandmother over the next few days to take in the magnitude of the election from their point of view. They’ve lived through some of the ugliness in our nations history and I’m overjoyed that they’ve had the opportunity to see this in their lifetime.

So last week was pretty hectic, but net result of all the madness is a new office/cube. I was/am helping with coordinating moves for the office of which we’re one third done. I have a nice cube with windows prett much all around me which is nice. I’ve had a window before, its something of a holy grail in cubicleland. Most people like them at first then hate the brightness and effect it has on their monitors. I’ve never really had that issue though.

I still can’t get my Sirius receiver to work in the office despite the abundance of windows. It’s nice to eat lunch then kick back with the legs up and just stare outside for a bit. Just now two people are playing tennis on the courts, there’s at least one jogger and I can expect to see some frisbee football or volleyball going on at least once this week. So in short, i’m liking the new digs. Now if the rest of the move can continue going smoothly.

Another lost weekend. Saturday started out decent, I actually did some cardio for the first time in probably 4-6 months. I was craving food from Alamo for some reason, so I tried to make the 3:40pm show but it was sold out due to the overflow from Batman. I then tried the Cinemark Round Rock but it was overrun as well. By this time I was starving and went and ate some crap because I was so hungry. =)

Sunday I found a 12:30 showing at Alamo at 12:10. I jumped in the car and made it on time to check out Hellboy II. It was a decent flick but I think I liked the first one a little better. Monday I went and saw Batman at 10:15 a.m. I had a really good workout that morning and didn’t want to ruin the momentum with popcorn and a hotdog so I got a large water and snuck in a nutrition bar for when I got hungry. I thought the movie was really good and really long. Afterwards I came home and crashed for a few hours, then cooked up my lunch on the BBQ pit for the week. I wanted to ad some tunes to my 128 mb (lol) mp3 player and spent all night not finding the CD’s. I also did more cardio! Pretty boring stuff huh?

So.. first post in a really long time. But today was a good day. Actually theres been a lot more good days than bad. For starters, I’m on my sixth week straight at the gym, where i’ve only missed one day (5 days a week) the whole time. On Monday I really screwed up my ankle heading into the gym, but I went in and did a little bit of work before the pain got really bad.

Besides that, just been keeping a low profile. Had a great holiday weekend, got a new video camera (even though my old one was practically new) and played a few video games between my not posting. I twittered some, especially when I found myself in weird situations like not having a wallet to pay for a meal.

So today was a good day. Ankle was feeling ok, got up and went to the gym, had a good workout, and talked briefly with whom I consider the hottest girl in the gym for the first time. Lol, I just did a search on my site to see if I had even blogged about her and didn’t find anything. Suffice it to say there’s been alot of struggles in my head so I probably thought that had played out here.

(Tie game 2 run shot…JD Drew first time allstar…yea i’m watching the baseball allstar game).

So i’ll continue on the tangent I was on before I was interrupted. I think I screw myself before even starting sometimes because I do play out stuff in my head. I’m a romantic at heart so its part of my downfall. Say you are a cute girl I see. We make eye contact you continue on your way and in my head i’m playing out scenarios that have led past marrirage kids etc. I go way past the here and now of what’s going on in the moment. Sexy huh? It’s something i’m working on, because if you can’t stay in the moment you won’t get near what’s down the line.

So really pretty girl in gym. Hottest thing is she sometimes wears glasses, which I think is crazy sexy. She’s always pretty intense in the gym, but she has a really kickass fun personality (from what I could tell). It’s wild how she’s so locked in her workout and keeping to herself but when engaged she’s super expressive and always has a smile.

Work was good, it tried to pull me down but I wouldn’t let it. So now as I type all of this, thinking about the dishes I need to get cleaned I know I’m going to sleep really great tonight and hopefully build upon todays good day with another.

Until then…
