Texas vs Ohio State!

// September 9th, 2006 // 1 Comment » // Just Blogging

Today is gameday here in Austin. They play Ohio State tonight at 7 pm and i’ve invited a few football friends over to check out the game. Should be a good time. I’ve been lazy about updating but I do have some pictues to post on some changes I’ve made to the house, etc. Plus there’s tons more I want to add to the site along with finishing out my about page. So, short update for now, hopefully more later. Good enough? :)

When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts

Powerful, powerful stuff. If you get the chance, watch this special from Spike Lee on HBO. It’s almost a disservice if you have HBO and don’t. A lot of stuff is represented from varying sides and is sometimes very uplifting and very, very saddening. Powerful tv and one reason why I feel HBO does excellent work in their series and original movies.

The reveal…

Being a single guy I decide to put up a profile in a few places. The hardest thing with a profile is defining in words what you want. So after finding a title and all the intial stuff in what defines your core, you have to really look inside and throw it all out on the page for everyone to see. In a way, blogging can be stress relief, a confessional, a sounding board, or even a rant. It depends on what kind of mood you’re in when you write. Profiles can be that way to and while admitting it on a blog can be somewhat humbling or even embarassing for all the world to see, it is what it is.

So, here’s what I put. Maybe its not so structured or in as many words but this is the gist of what I had after all the other stuff that comes before the inevitable question of “What do you want?”. Some choose to be coy, others playful and some in between. I’ve come to discover through personal growth and quite interestingly through coaching classes i’ve taken at work that the truth, while sometimes revealing to much, is usually the best way to move forward. This is me good, bad, or indifferent. It is what it is.

How I thought about it:

I am hoping to find someone to share my life with, have children with, and grow old with. In my mind, true success in a relationship can only be determined at the very last moment of the relationship and if the relationship was successful it will be until death do you part.

To me a successful relationship should contain strong communication, the ability to share, a strong love life, having individuality while still being together as a couple, having and sharing common interests and goals, as well as having respect and admiration from the other person, as well as having something the other person can respect and admire about you.

In the end, to look back on your relationship and have no regrets, knowing you did everything possible to make the other person happy. And at the end, be able to see her happier than the day you met and know that the other person made you the happiest person possible is to me, the defining point of a successful relationship. In reaching towards this I consider myself to be a diamond in the rough that is far from perfect but still working to realize all of my potential. I am hoping to find someone to share in that journey, so that we both realize our potential together.

In one form it appears:

In my mind, true success in a relationship can only be determined at the very last moment of the relationship, which if the relationship was successful it will be until death do you part.

To me a successful relationship should contain the following altogether:

Pre-marriage and honeymoon years:

- Strong communication
- Ability to share
- Strong love life
- Having individuality and still being a couple.
- Having common interests and goals
- Provide an atmosphere where both can benefit
- Respect and admiration from the other person, as well as having something the other person can respect and admire about you.

During marriage:

- All of the above while inventing new ways to keep the relationship fresh

On your death bed:

- To look back on your relationship and have no regrets.
- To look back at your relationship and know you did everything possible to make the other person happy
- To look at your loved one in the end and see her happier than the day you met
- To look back at your life and know that the other person made you the happiest person possible.

As I pursue this, I’m looking to meet fun, interesting people in and around the Austin area. I consider myself to be a diamond in the rough that is far from perfect but still working to realize all of my potential. I love a good movie, dining out, or a quiet night at home. Mostly, I enjoy good company and hope to someday define a successful relationship with someone special. Do you qualify?

I still really need a decent picture. :)

I made a collage

I was messing around with picasa for reasons that I won’t go through now, and made a collage. I really need some good pictures of myself taken and quick!

Happy Birthday Dad!

// August 15th, 2006 // No Comments » // Just Blogging, Life

I just got home from celebrating my Dad’s birthday at my parents house. It was a quiet get together with my mom and dad. My grandma made dinner and we ate and watched some tv and just hung out. It was good. My sister being there would be the only thing that would have made it better, but she’s in Atlanta. You take what you can get and press on.

 Happy Birthday Dad!

So much fun, so little time…

I’ve been having tons of fun with my new Casio camera. It was so much fun that I overslept this morning because I was up all night, tooling around on my blog adding all kinds of cool stuff that included a widget for Flikr. So needless to say, I didn’t work out this morning. :( The plan moving forward is to do my Tuesday workout Wednesday and do my normal routine on Thursday. Still trying to decide if I’ll go in on Friday to make up for Wednesday. Confused yet??

On a brighter….well, not really. My work laptop is completely dead now, so I’m waiting for a hard drive to come in so I can use it again. Now on a brighter note, Dead Rising hits stores tomorrow, so if you’re in or around the Austin area without a pre-order, Fry’s will be selling it for 49.99.

I also picked up Inside Man today which is a really good movie that I caught when it was out in theatres. Check it out if you get a chance! I took a really awful picture today but I love my camera so much I uploaded it anyway. Oh well, I’m crashing…

Word. Yea I know the new look is badass! Plus I added my 360 Gamertag to pimp my skillz. LOL. Seriously tho, this Tiga template totally kicks ass and while I liked my former template this one looks so much cleaner. Now if I can just get Robbie Rob to hook me up with some sweet artwork for the header then it’s really gonna kick some butt!

The Andrea is the shiznit

// July 31st, 2006 // 1 Comment » // Just Blogging, Play

Yes…The Andrea’s link has been added. Andrea is the only person I know that watches more tv/movies/reality crap than I do. Scary huh? I bother her at work talking about TV so it’s only fair that I add her site as a place to visit. Heheh.

Early in the morning

// July 31st, 2006 // No Comments » // Life

I had a good workout this a.m. I overslept (4:45 when I had my clock set for 4:25 a.m.) but got my 40 minutes in anyway before heading to the gym. Definitely a benefit of working from home once in a while is the ability to juggle your time because you’re saving in other ways. Last week was good until Wednesday. Normally I have a “day off” on Wednesday, meaning no weights just an early morning date with the elliptical. However I’ve found it really hard to make my friday light day after my leg workout on Thursday.

Throw in the mix a really cute girl that I only see on Mondays (Friday’s usually pretty slow on the rare occasion I make it), so what I will probably do is change it up this week and see how the workout goes by making Wednesday my Friday workout (and hopefully find out if the cutie comes in on Wednesday). Then leave Thursday as normal, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday being non-lifting days. Hopefully I can be a little more disciplined on the elliptical those days as well.

I’m eating fairly well in terms of discipline but I still have a long way to go to get down to my goal and I know the key is the cardio. It’s just a matter of doing it. :)

Fusion Frenzy 2!!!

// July 27th, 2006 // 1 Comment » // Gaming

Woot! I just saw over at Joystiq that Fusion Frenzy 2 is on for Xbox 360:

“Microsoft has officially announced the holiday arrival of Fuzion Frenzy 2 for the Xbox 360. Interestingly enough, this one’s actually being developed by Hudson, a subsidiary of Konami (the first game was done by Blitz). Aside from oh-so-creatively shifting the 40 mini-games into space and across multiple planets, the new developer has seen fit to add full online functionality, allowing players to create custom tournaments and build up a rank that gives them some authority in picking which mini-games to play next. It isn’t specifically mentioned, but you can probably count on purchasing and downloading extra activities months after you’ve grown tired of the original selection.”
